Comparison with others is useless. This practice only nags at us when we are unable to achieve someone else’s greatness and opens the door to jealousy, envy, greed, competition, and even hatred. Comparison with our best or higher self is what opens the door to true advancement and healing and positions us on the road to success. By improving our personal attributes and characteristics little by little, we then incrementally climb upwards to become our higher self.
Begin in small ways. Simple things can and do make a profound difference. Ten items to consider for self-advancement are:
- Talk less, listen more.
- Watch less visual media, read more
- Sit less, move more.
- Eat less processed foods. Enjoy more fruits and vegetables.
- Condemn less, praise more.
- Think fewer negative thoughts by intentionally replacing negative thoughts with positive ones (even if they are made up!)
- Stay indoors less. Go outdoors more.
- Spend less time alone, more time with people.
- Schedule focused daily meditation, less shotgun thinking time with scattered, unproductive thoughts.
- Stop ignoring self for others and replace with scheduled self-care.
