Hanshi Larry Zahand
Hanshi Larry Zahand is 9th Degree Black Belt has been studying the martial arts for over four decades. He has trained in many different systems and has acquired mastery level in multiple art forms. What is notable about Hanshi Zahand is his unique method of teaching life-skills through martial arts training. When you become a student at Zahand’s martial arts, you not only learn how to defend yourself, but you learn skills that will change your life forever. Self-esteem, self-confidence, self-awareness and stress reduction, are only a few of the benefits you will gain. Grand Master Zahand has taught thousands of students over the years, and he makes each and every person in his school feel like part of the Zahand’s family. Both he and his staff of amazing instructors are excited to pass on the priceless lessons and knowledge they've acquired through years of blood, sweat, and tears. Grandmaster Zahand started his training at age 8. At seventeen, he won the National Championships in forms and fighting which put him on the first ever AAU/USA karate team. The team spent the summer of 1986 in Japan, training with their national team. They competed at the Goodwill games at the end of the trip and Master Zahand won all ten of his fights, making him the individual Champion and as team captain they also won the 5 man team event and winning the Championship. In 1987, Master Zahand was awarded the Olympic Sportsman of the Year by the United States Olympic Committee. He was flown to Washington D.C. and met President George H. W. Bush and was presented his award. He went on to compete and coach in more the 35 different countries. He retired in 1989 undefeated winning 53 straight fights that year in both National and international competition. He Currently coaches teams throughout Europe and other parts of the world. His main passion now, is to pass on the knowledge he has learned through all of his training in competition and his study of human development of the mind and body to better all his students lives.
